OSS Scripting and Tools

* Scripting and Tools are part of OSS
  * Might save time (but probably not)
  * Helps elucidate architecture
  * Makes for easier modification and porting

* Scripting Languages
  * e.g.: sh, bash, perl
  * different because
    * interactive / interpreted
    * allow accessing "operating system" facilities easily
    * easy to write (even at the expense of easy-to-read)
    * good support for strings, ints, and doubles (maybe not
      arrays and structs)
